Thank you very much for visiting the Georgia Tech Bar Association ("GTBA") website. Whether you are a current member or prospective member, I hope that you use this website to keep up with the happenings of the GTBA.
The GTBA is an affinity group chartered under the Alumni Association of Georgia Tech. Affinity groups are relatively new entities in the Alumni Association. Prior to the authorizaion of affinity groups, the only "subgroups" under the Alumni Association were alumni groups based on the location of the group. The Alumni Association felt that there was an unmet need for people of the same affiinity to connect with each other, regardless of location, and thus, the affinity group program was started.
As a charted group under the Alumni Association, we get all the rights and privileges that you might expect from the traditional, location-based alumni groups. But, we are able to tailor our group for the specific needs and wants of those with an affinity towards legal careers and issues. We organize social events as well as educational speaking engagements. We also sponsor distinguished speakers such as the Honorable Sara Doyle of the Georgia Court of Appeals, the Honorable Michael Johnson of the Fulton County Superior Court and the Honorable Tim Batten of the Northern District of Georgia.
