Non-Traditional Work Alternatives for Lawyers
The Georgia Tech Bar Association is proud to present our next breakfast seminar on Wednesday, September 30:
Non-Traditional Work Alternatives for Lawyers
In this economic climate, many of us have been driven to consider a more creative approach to our legal careers – one that may not include working in the conventional “big-law” firm. As our panelists will discuss, there are more options for lawyers than the well-worn path from associate to partner. This seminar aims to start a dialogue on these options, led by a previous litigator who went out on his own to start a mediation practice, and a real estate professional with the know-how to help lawyers obtain the resources to break out on their own.
David Cole attended Tech on a basketball scholarship, graduating with an IM degree in 1984. Like most ex-athletes, David left Tech and pursued a career in commercial real estate. His career has included 15 years in commercial lending, in addition to brokerage and mixed use development. He is currently working at NAI Brannen Goddard as Director of Design and Management of their construction group. Most recently he has been concentrating in the development of “Virtual Office Space” providing an alternative solution to traditional office environments and has helped numerous lawyers develop alternative office solutions.
Christopher Annunziata graduated from Tech in 1993 in the first class to receive the International Affairs degree. After graduating from Fordham University School of Law in 1996, he moved back to Atlanta to practice civil litigation. In 2006, Chris left a large international law firm to pursue a career as a mediator. He felt that his experience analyzing litigation risk and recommending creative solutions could help other litigants resolve their disputes. Since becoming registered with the Georgia Office of Dispute Resolution in 2007, Chris has mediated well over 200 civil and domestic disputes and has seen people argue as fiercely about $100 as they do about $100,000.

Everyday Crimes of Ordinary People
Please join the Georgia Tech Bar Association for its next quarterly seminar to be held on Thursday, February 26, 2009, at the Georgia Tech Alumni House at 190 North Avenue:
EVERYDAY CRIMES OF ORDINARY PEOPLE
This seminar and panel discussion will focus on explaining misdemeanor crimes-both seasoned attorneys and the general public should plan on learning something new about situations you or your loved ones may encounter at some point in time. The panel will entertain questions on different types of misdemeanors, criminal sentences for misdemeanors, whether you should defend yourself in traffic cases, and other general questions regarding retaining an attorney. The panel will feature several Atlanta attorneys, including Manny Arora of Arora & La Scala. Sports fans will certainly know Mr. Arora as the legal analyst on 680 the Fan. We hope that you will join us for what will certainly be an exciting and informative evening.
Registration and reception for the seminar begins at 5:30pm, followed by a panel discussion beginning shortly after 6pm.
